Rookie Goals 2003-02-03
My goals my rookie year are set pretty high because my parents always taught me that high expectations lead to high results. So one of my goals going into the first two tournaments is to do well enough to qualify for the Kraft Nabisco Championships. This is because my goal throughout my life is to jump in the water. I want to jump into that lake so bad! So that is basically my ultimate tournament that I want to win, besides the Open.

Other than that, my main goal this year is to contend for the Rookie of the Year title. I know that I have Lorena Ochoa who is also coming in this year. I have played with her a lot. I remember the first time I played against her was at the U.S. Girls Championship match play. Unfortunately she did take that one from me but even this past year of college we kind of battled for a couple. I am trying to work on my game and I know she is a strong player so I know if I can contend with her or any other rookie coming out, then I can be successful on Tour.

I think some smaller goals of improving my putting and accuracy are going to help me in the long run, but my ultimate goal to keep a positive attitude regardless of what I do.

The one lady I always wish I had the chance to meet ever since I was about 13 is Heather Farr. I read a story about her in a golf magazine about when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer and how she had such a positive outlook on everything regardless of the situation. I always wish the I could have met her. This summer at the Open I met Beth Daniel and I knew that they were friends Until this day, just to remind me of my life, one of the ways I always mark my golf ball is HF on one side and AJ for my initials on the other side. I can't seem to stop doing it. I guess because it brings me back to the reality that this is just a game regardless if I make a double or an eagle, I still have my health and I still need to be thankful--it just reminds me to stay in that positive frame of mind.

Overall looking into this year I am really excited about the season and thrilled to be doing the rookie diary.
