| My sister, Amanda and I, Angela, are training to participate in the St. Anthony's Olympic triathlon on April 26, 2009 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team in Training. All of us on Team in Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
We are completing this event in memory of our dad, Jim Jerman, and for all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! Our dad was lucky enough to be part of these amazing medical advancements during his treatment and was able to live a very fulfilled and happy life due to people like TNT athletes.
As many of you may know, our dad passed away with CML, a type of Leukemia, in September 2006. He was always proud of what we always accomplished, be it Amanda in the classroom and getting her Masters degree and being an amazing mother to his two Granddaughters; or on the golf course where dad was there to always have a happy hug regardless the outcome. However, we want to honor his constant support and encouragement in our lives by taking on this huge initiative and completing an Olympic length triathlon. We will be swimming just under a mile, biking 26 miles, and running 6 miles. This may seem crazy, but we are bound and determined to finish this race for our dad.
At this point we have been completing 6-8 training sessions weekly. We have already finished a 10 mile bike ride followed by a 2 mile run... We also just discovered we can swim over 350 meters in 10 minutes nonstop, a feat that is quite fulfilling in deed.
Nonetheless, we need your help to get us to the race and to raise the necessary amount to fulfill our dream in memory of Dad. Please join us on this adventure by helping us raise the $6100 we need to compete by end of March. All you have to do is donate and we will do all the hard work of the training.
I hope you will visit our web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see our progress. Thanks for your support for people such as our dad!
