My trip to L.A. and El Caballero was full of every possible
emotion. At times I had a huge smile due to a birdie start, while other
times a look of utter disbelief as I realized I
had hit the wrong ball and had to tack on an additional
2 strokes. By the end of the week I determined
that this wasn't a week of lucky breaks for me.
Overall, the course was great. The greens at the
beginning of the week were very fast and quite
tricky, but the crew was able to slow them down
by Friday's first round. I had a little bit of
trouble adjusting to the slower greens, but realized
on a course like El Cab, you have to be able to
hit the ball in the correct part of the green.
As a rookie, there is no shortage of knowledge
to be obtained.
Some of the best parts of my week were meeting all
the great people at the course.
It was a lot of fun meeting Rebecca "Crash" and
her parents, Skip and Karen. They always had
a smile on their faces regardless of what I shot.
I believe I had a "Crash" type of weekend--always
running into a wall and having to start all over
again. They also recommended a great steak restaurant,
Monty's. Although I was unable to meet Michael,
Bobbi took great care of us and the food, ambiance,
and company were wonderful. My friends, Len and
Greg Korn, were once again my unwavering followers
and joined us for dinner.
I was also able to get some well-received
wardrobe tips from Carrie and Evan's father.
It seems that accessories and jewelry are the
main touch for any outfit this season. At the
end of my on-course practice Wednesday, they
were out in the cold until dark, watching me
prepare for the week. I hope they enjoyed getting
inside the ropes for a little while; I know I
enjoyed having them out there.
Although I missed the cut this
week, I continue to learn more about life out
here on tour and more about my game in general.
I will take the next week off and spend some
time with my mom and dad in Las Vegas.
