As my time went by over the last couple of weeks, I have been hard at work on my golf game once again. As before, I have been working with my instructor, John, on cleaning up my swing plane. I have seen the before and after, over the last month and a half and the difference to most is small, but to me I feel as if I have made a major swing change. Nonetheless I feel as if I have “found” my swing again and anxious to get to the course. My next stop is where I am writing from, beautiful Portland, Oregon. I have never seen such tall, full, green trees against a true blue sky. If you have never been to Oregon, put it on your list of places you must go.
I have stayed with the same family the last 3 years and once again it feels like home away from home. This week I was able to experience the downtown area as I had dinner at some fabulous restaurants. My favorite was Typhoon; the Thai food was spectacular and thankfully not too spicy, as my taste buds tend to be on the weak side. I also enjoyed walking down 23rd avenue for a little relaxed window-shopping. But of course the best part of Portland is the golf course and its practice facility. Columbia Edgewater was truly in perfect condition from tee to green. I played some good golf, but unfortunately for me the putter just didn’t get hot enough for the tournament. I am happy to say my fairways and greens hit are definitely improving and I continue to increase my confidence. But at this point I am about to go out and work on my short game some more. The course has this practice area that is second to none, with a par three course that will test your wedge game. I figure that the short game can always use some more practice. So, as I start coming down the stretch of my season I look forward to hitting many fairways and greens and eliminate all unforced errors. Just as in tennis, unforced errors either make or break a round. Thanks for your continued support and I look forward to seeing or hearing from you all. Take care and Keep Smiling!!! |
