Hi everyone, sorry for not posting a journal entry in awhile.
My season has seemed to become a reoccurring dream and at times a nightmare
(my rookie season is definitely a rookie experience).
Just to catch you up…
I arrive in Columbus, Ohio, just to find
that my golf clubs decided not to make the
trip with me, which was a first. I took a
day off, but thankfully they all showed up
the next day, ready to be hit long and straight.
I had the privilege of playing with Candie
Kung during her wonderful round of 64, it
surely made my round seem quite unspectacular.
What a great birthday gift she gave to herself.
I also was able to meet some great people
in Columbus, my family housing; the Bergs
treated me as one of the family. I can't
wait to get back next year and drive my new
car, ha-ha.
| " And
now to my best hole of the year--
a 161 yd par 3. It
was 156 carry with a 7-iron straight
into the hole. Wow, what a great
feeling, my first hole-in-one as
a professional!" |

My next trip was to Toledo where wewere part
of the famous blackout. The funniest
part about the blackout was that my
mom and I thought it was just a local problem
and drove about 25 minutes to a movie theater
only to discover it was a national
problem; oops. My mom and I decided to have
a girl's day out and went to a local spa where
we were pampered to the nth degree; it's
been great to have her out here supporting
me throughout it all.
We were now on our way to Kutztown, PA,
where I quickly learned that you must pronounce
their city correctly or get a stern look.
They are very prideful of their city and
people. I enjoyed playing in PA especially
the first couple of days as my playing partners
and I fed off each others birdies, I believe
we had 16 or 17 birdies between us all, quite
a quick round. It was the first time I was
up at the top of the leader board and it
caught me a little off guard. It's a place
I need to learn to be comfortable in. Like
I have said all year, there is no shortage
of knowledge that one can acquire out here.
I was very excited to be able to see Candie
win for the second time this year. What an
impressive season she has had this year.
Working for a purpose surely pays off!
Now in Springfield, IL, my mom and I stayed
with Eleanor and Bob, whom I could never
repay for such wonderful food and company.
They showed their true Bulldog spirit helping
me find a place that was broadcasting the
UGA vs. Clemson football game. College football
has become and is constantly the talk on
the range, putting green, and course. Everyone
seems to have an opinion and it makes for
great Saturdays. As one would assume, yes
my bulldogs dominated and it was great having
my friends to share it with. Eleanor was
such an amazing cook that I decided to stay
an extra night. The best was the homemade
apple pie; brought me back to my grandmas.
And now to my best hole of the year;
a 161 yd par 3. It was 156 carry with a 7-iron straight into the hole. Wow,
what a great feeling, my first hole-in-one as a professional. The funniest
part was getting phone calls from my friends wondering what kind of car I had
won, to their disappointment I had to explain that my hole-in-one came about
3 holes to early, as 17 was where the Mercedes was located. Oh well, I will
take the ace any day. The best part was actually being able to see it on TV
and getting to see my funny reaction. That's a memory that will never fade.
The journey home for a couple of weeks was much needed.
It has become very difficult to erase bad shots or numbers from my head.
It is something I believe everyone goes through
at some point in their career, either pro
or amateur. During my two weeks, I was able
to watch a close friend play some creative
golf, attend my first Bulldog game (thanks
Brian, I enjoyed Barking) as an alumni "Between
the Hedges" as we dominated South Carolina.
Sorry to all my Gamecock fans out there,
but this was a sweet revenge game, ha-ha.
I spent quality time with my best gal pals
for a weekend back in Athens. What good memories
it brought back. I was able to eat at my
favorite restaurants, Inoko Japanese in Athens,
and El Carrizo Mexican in Columbus, oh how
you miss your local spots. I also worked
hard on my game preparing for the last few
tourneys of the year. My instructor, John
worked with me on my grip, width at the top
of the swing, and swing speed. I figured
some like to know what we work on during
our weeks off. It's a time to evaluate and
reconfigure my weakest points and make them
the strongest.
As I am sitting here on the plane, I am
very excited to get back out there and play!!
Until next time, Keep Smiling! Angela
p.s. Just to let everyone know I am going
to be having my own website debut in the
next week or so. Please check it out as my
friends Alan and Jeff from Chicago have
worked quite hard putting it together. It
will be, www.angelajerman.com
I can't wait to hear your feedback! |
