How amazing were the finishes at the US and Canadian Opens.
From young to old not one person
wasn't caught up in the history that was taking
place. Hilary and Tylar, wonderful people who
have helped me out throughout my rookie year,
were absolutely brilliant at Pumpkin Ridge.
They played with a calm that is hard to imitate,
while being oh so gracious to all around. I
cannot express how happy I am for Hilary and
Tylar on their victory. I know it meant the
world to them know that everyone was behind
them backing there efforts. From my stand point
and those around me this year has been filled
with hope for all players. To see friends like
Candie, Angela and now Hilary walk away with
the winners trophy makes us all work a little
harder and dream a little bigger.
Although I was with that big group waiting
to see if we made the cut on Friday, I could
not help but notice and realize that not
everyone can make the cut. Every week good
players make and miss the cut that is what
is so amazing about our tour, everyone is
extremely talented.
On Saturday, my mom and I drove to the coast with my fellow
UGA alum Brian. He flew out to watch me play and bring on
lots of birdies. He held up his part of the bargain as I had
plenty of birdies, but unfortunately "one" to
many bogeys. The coast was spectacular. We
had the "best clam chowder" at
MO's and we also visited the largest Sitka
Spruce Tree in the United States, standing
just over 260 feet tall. It was immaculate.
It seems that although I might miss a cut
now and again, I always find the unique hot
spots. There is never a dull moment.
My first trip to Canada was enjoyable. The
golf course, staff and facilities were all
top notch. I would like to say the speed
of the greens were extremely consistent thanks
to my new bud, Kent. He was quick to show
me and my mother just how they test the speed
and the lengths his crew has to go through
to maintain that consistency. I was unaware
that one whole they main triple cut and roll
while another green may only require a quick
cut. He really opened my mind to discover
what it takes to make us happy and look so
good making all of those putts.
While in Canada, I helped my mom celebrate
her birthday as my friend from home, Ashley,
also celebrated her own. My niece, LeAnn
also had her 2nd birthday while we were away,
but I know she had fun at her pool party.
While traveling it is sometimes hard to be
away from friends and family during these
special times, but thank goodness for cell
phones, where would I be without one?
Well, now I will be headed home for a couple
of weeks. My best friend is getting married
on July 19th and that is something I just
can't miss. I will be back in action at the
British and then will have my next entry
at Columbus, Oh. Enjoy your day, but remember
to always smell the roses along the way. |
